My bigger girls have learned, while we let our chickens out to free range for bits in the evening that they like to snack on certain treats in our yard such as honey suckle, sour grass, morning glories, etc. Well our one year old watches our children pluck treats for them and feed them through the run wire. This morning as I filled their feeder and waterer, I noticed she had plucked up a big wad of her own treat for the chickens and was letting them eat.

So precious, and thankful I caught the moment. I am thankful our kids are growing up with chickens. Learning responsibility and hard work, eating healthy sourced eggs and knowing where they come from, and just enjoying the pleasure of watching and laughing at our funny hens all have so many benefits for our children as they grow.
