Pretty momma... She looks so happy with her new babies.

Broody moms that do a great job are priceless and you are very lucky to have such a wonderful mom.

Chicks that have a mother in true free range conditions are so much happier and smarter than caged birds and is hard to measure, but real just the same.

Watching mom with her babies is something everyone needs to experience, because there is nothing like it on earth. Congrats.

Thanks y'all. She sat on 19 eggs and 16 hatched out (one cracked and 2 were not fertile, I'm guessing). I will definitely name the brown one Cadbury, great name.
It is really neat to watch them all, she teaches them so much. Thankfully she is not afraid when we go in the pen but we certainly don't try and pick any up or get near her and the chicks.
Today she got tired for a moment and went on one side of a log and left the chicks on the other where she could still see them. I could just see her thinking, "Can I have one moment to myself puleese?" Frazzled new mom!

Now, that's what I call, cute as can be! I love the one checking out the food bowl--I bet it's a roo... Thanks for sharing-Dixie
