Our chicks are finally here 🤗 They won the race against our ducklings who are still “in the USPS network and expected to arrive on time” 🙄, whatever that means. We’re in Southern California, so I expected the ducks to get here first since they’re coming from Metzer and the chicks came from McMurray. Other than one pasty butt, they’re all doing good so far. Everyone is eating and drinking well. There’s a couple that I can’t figure out exactly who’s who, but I’ll sort through them tonight once they’ve had a chance to settle in.

The chicks are doing great. Ready to move outside this weekend or next. I think we may have ended up with one missexed roo. I’ve been trying to take weekly growth pictures of them, so it will be interesting to see how everyone developed once we hit the 8 wk mark and I compile their photos.

The ducklings arrived the next morning. Everyone was alive but one of the Welshies was weak and didn’t make it thru the night. And one of the Cayugas had a prolapsed vent on arrival which has since corrected itself. Our local TSC happened to have non-pekins, so I ended up getting 4 more ducklings to replace the one that didn’t make it. Apparently duck math uses multiplication. Other than the initial one, all of our ducks have been doing great. It’s not going to be easy to bring out flock of 15 down to 6 or 7, but since I bought straight runs we have at least a few boys that we won’t need to keep for eggs.
