Our Coop

excellent. Very nice job. The chicks will be happy campers in there.

Thank you! BTW: Your Eggtopia construction process was inspirational in our process - so TYVM for that too!

As I mention in the post - we've started referring to ours as "The Manor". It's insulated well enough that the last two days it was warmer in the coop than in the house!

nice job looks great but are you sure you want your nest box or at least that one on the floor ,you might want them up just a little when they start laying you want half to get down on the floor to gather the eggs, just my 2 cents.

Thank you for all the compliments. I'm hoping they'll do well in there.

Thanks for the suggestion on the nest boxes. I may raise them. The coop isn't all that tall - walls are 6' high. I didn't want to put the boxes too close to the ceiling, but your point about crawling around to get eggs is well taken.

The short walls are probably the one thing I'd re-do. I'm over 6' tall and am already getting tired of stooping.

The baby chicks love the place - can't wait for them to get bigger!

Another question... When the full grown hens are on the roosts, are they going to get pooped on by the hens over them? I can't tell of the spacing from the picture. But, otherwise, beautiful coop. Your girls are very lucky. Great guy to build it for you....give him a hug.

Very nice coop and run. The hens will probably all try to roost on the top roost. For adult hens you need minimum of 10 inches of roost space per hen.
