Here's at least one hawk that visits our coop in Los Angeles! The hawk is sitting on the run while the chickens are cowering under the coop and in the coop doorway.

Cool but scary. Looks like your birds are well-protected by that run though

time to trap that hawk and move him to Bakersfield or El Centro.

I wonder if there is a way to attract ravens? We live about 90 miles east of LA and rarely get hawks on our property. They are all over, but we have raven around, which are territorial and won't let hawks in their area. Ravens rarely go after adult chickens, so we treat them as friendly birds around here. We didn't attract them here though...they made their home in our neighborhood. Either way, they keep a good 1/2 mile radius clear of hawks!

Wow, great picture!

We live about 20 miles North of Los Angeles and I've seen hawks a couple of times. The reason I've noticed the hawks is because the crows are chasing them away and making quite a racket. Like another post mentioned, see if you can attract the crows in your area. They are a great early warning and protection system.
