Our dog has earned the title of real farm dog now!
Sir Didymus (yes, from the movie Labyrinth) is a papillon mix. All of 13 pounds of adorable and sweet as honey.
Had our 1-week-old chicks and ducklings out for their first foray into free ranging in our backyard, and the neighbor's cat heard their peeps and came to see if she couldn't snatch a chicken dinner out from under our noses. That wasn't going to happen anyway with me and my husband watching over the babies, but we never had to do a thing.
Didy was having none of it! He's very fond of cats, but not when HIS babies are out! He kept watch and chased her out three times. She tried to come in three different ways to trick us, but nope! Not while Sir Didymus was on the job!
For his bravery and valor in protecting the defenseless, we awarded him a heart-shaped cookie I picked up at the farmer's market yesterday from a lady who makes homemade doggy treats.

Our hero.
