I candled again last night too, despite all my resolve not to! The darn eggs might as well be chocolate for all I can resist them!!!
Still 9 growing, moving chicks and one that is in question. I really think the one is a bacteria growth. The other 3 are all duds, I need to pull them out.
I have a question on figuring your hatch ratio though. I got 14 eggs, 1 was scrambled by the PO and I pulled early and one is obviously not even fertile. So, when figuring my hatch ratio, do I use the number 14 or the number 12 or what? The other 3 duds have blood rings or bacteria growth, so I figure I use though anyway, since they did have a chance when starting.
Holy cow, the days are ticking right by, guys!! Turners come out on Tuesday!!! Yipppeeeee!
Jamie, I saw your post that your Wellies are hatching early!!! That's awesome!!! Hurry up with those pics!
Cass, you have got to stop with the candling pics!!!! You're not helping my resolve not to touch my eggs anymore at all!!!!
Riocotesei, puppies and chicks at the same time???? So, which will be bigger, the Chihuahua pups or the chicks????
Pbj, that's a funny dream!!! You are definitely going "hatching crazy"!!!
Kodiak, you don't include any eggs that are unable to develop from the beginning in your hatch ratio. Some people even leave out any quitters.
Ricki, what kind of chicks are you hatching again? How many are there? It is exciting, isn't it? Doesn't seem to matter how many times you hatch, it's just amazing!!!
It's just silkies - they drive me crazy! I can't seem to get them from day 18 on to hatch...
I have one showgirl boy who is 11 weeks old now and he needs some silkie girliefriends! And he is one handsome devil - so they will love him and his big liquid black eyes!
Lol the pups weigh 4-6 oz. born. But if you take dry fluffed chicks based on looks, 3 would look the same size...lol
I'll post pictures when she pops
She's soo big 21" around the fat end of the stomach. She's had two litters, and she's had 5 pups each time. She has had a litter once a year after she was 2. This is actually her last litter. I may keep a pup even...
Also-- a friend called me tonight, and her broody had 30 eggs under her. So far 7 have hatched. She has peacocks and they pick on babies, so she's giving them to me. I'm super excited!
