Our FIRST Broiler Adventure :)

I love your blog! Your family is great and I think your adventures with your daughter are fantastic she seems so curious and adventurous a definite good egg. Your Broilers look very well they seem so happy. My broilers are now 2 weeks 2 days and will be moved out to their tractor any day now im a little hesitant because of all the thunderstorms that are suppossed to be here for the next week or so. Yuck. I will post a few new pics of my chicks when my hubby gets home I took the pics on his phone.

here are my CX 2 week pics

This is what I will be moving them into in the next day or 2

Its so ugly made with scrap wood lol I call it the "ugly shack" It looks small but its not too small at 10x5 1/2

Cool! I just got my specially bred broilers today from oldorchardfarms, a member here, and I'm very excited. I plan on free ranging mine with broiler finisher available in a tractor that gets moved each day once they are old enough to be outside. If it weren't for the neighbor's dogs, I'd let them roam around even more, but we've already had trouble with them chasing our egg layers and I don't want to take the chance. Maybe an electric fence is in our future...we'll have to think about that.

Your 4 new birds look fabulous. Good find. I will be watching also for your next post about the FR. My CX are now 3 weeks 2 days and we moved them into the tractor last sat. They look so much happier outside. Do you have a rough date yet you plan to process? I was just curious if it was going to be before me so I can take a few pointers if you have them. I plan to process mine on about sept 9 which puts them just shy of 8 weeks (thats if I can get them to 8 weeks I hope so

Thanks! Your chicks are looking great and the tractor is awesome. Sorry I haven't responded. It has been a crazy few days here. If you read the broiler update, some of your questions may be answered. I think you will beat us with the processing. I'll post more later. I have entertaining to do with my mom this week so postings may be sparse.

Blessings

Your chickens look great sorry to hear you lost one. And gobble gobble is super sute. My CX are doing well also at 4weeks 4 days . Here is a pic of them at exactly 4 weeks old with my girls

Hey Chicken Pickin,
Your broilers look great! Have you found a place to process them yet or did you decide to do it yourself? I think we may invest in a plucker. And if all three of those princesses belong to you, they are beautiful :)))) Sorry it took so long to respond to your post but I have been a canning fool! Tomatoes, pears, pickles, and more tomatoes :))))
