Our first egg, and, how long do Ameraucanas take to start laying?

Thanks EmiAnner and Bullitt!

It seems to be good luck to post here and state you are waiting for hens to start laying. :) Because then the hens seem to start laying.

By the way, remember not to put all your eggs in one basket. :)

Beautiful eggs, EmiAnner!!! I can't wait to see our Easter Egger!! She is 20 weeks, so she might still have sometimes to lay!

No kidding, Bullitt! LOL!

Congrats, EmiAnner! Beautiful egg!

Thank you!

LOL, so true!

I need to correct myself. They are not Ameraucanas, they are Easter Eggers. I just found out and only say it out of habit.

EmiAnner, I think my 'Ameraucanas' could in fact be Easter Eggers as well. Two look like Brown Red Ameraucanas, but the other four are questionable. At least they'll all lay blue eggs and I still adore them no matter what they may be. :)

I still love mine as well. They are beautiful and sweet. Besides, getting blue AND green eggs is even more awesome!

Update:

I went to check my chickens at noon, and only saw 6 of them in the run! I opened the coop and saw the Black Sex Link and Barred Rock were laying in the nesting boxes!! It was pretty exciting to see them in action!! So I got two eggs today!! But yesterday, I got only one egg! Now I know for sure which breeds were laying!
