Our first egg!!

We got our very first egg today!. They may have been laying before as we were letting them free range for a while. I decided to keep them in their run for a while cause I figured a few of them were getting really close to being ready to start laying. I was right! I came in with the egg and my husband asked if it was fake since I had just told him last night it was time to leave them in the run.

Oh, I meant to ask, what time if day do they usually lay or does it vary from chicken to chicken?

It seems to vary by chicken for mine. Some of ours are early morning layers and some take until afternoon. So all of ours are on lockdown until I am pretty sure that everyone that is currently laying has laid then i let them out to free range.
