Our first egg

The first egg from my chooks. Arrived at 2:30 pm 4/5/14. It was bit small, but I've heard that is not unusual for the first one. The shell was very hard, though. That means my girls are getting plenty of calcium in their diet.
I ended up with 9 hens out of the 13. All of the straight run pairs I got came out 50/50.

Congrats!

I remember that the first couple of eggs from my hens were difficult to get out of the egg carton cause they were so small. The eggs will get larger and the shells will probably get thinner. It is amazing how thick the shells can be when they are new eggs.
