we got our first poults about 2 hours
Ago and I’m Concerned :(

They were chirping loudly in the 30 min drive home once in the brooder they instantly started falling asleep! I dipped beaks in honey water and tried to show them food but they kept going limp!

I have chicks in the same brooder in a different section from the same breeder and all Are fine and doing wonderful.

I heard turkey poults are very hard to keep alive so I’m freaking! I took them out and put them in an already heated incubator with water and food to get them warm quicker and noticed 1 poults is walking backwards :0

Am I just freaking out?

Please offer advice!

Poults chirp loudly when unhappy. What temperature are they at? How old are they. Poults aren't really harder in my experiences. The difference is they need to learn stuff like what and where to eat and drink. They could just be stressed from the whole experience. I wouldn't keep them in an incubator. A heat lamp set so the temperature is about 90 for the first week is best.

the one that i was worried died :(

it kept flipping on its back and despite all efforts to get it to eat and drink it wouldn’t!

the other two are great. I put them
in with my chicks ( breeder recommended) and the chicks taught them to eat and drink. i’m sad about the little one that passed though

Sorry to hear that. I wouldn't keep them with those chicks long term as they will become confused about them being different species.
