Welcome to BYC fellow Floridian! Glad you joined our community of crazy poultry lovers! :yesss:
Are you looking for ideas on the best fodder as a supplement for your flocks diet? I'd love to see pictures of your bitties. ;)

Welcome to BYC. I am not sure about the fodder question, but your best bet if you want eggs is to feed them a balanced layer feed with only a small amount of treats or fodder. There is probably plenty of information already on the website on this topic, so a search using the brown search button at the top of your screen will be useful. I hope you enjoy the website and look forward to seeing you in the forums.

They do a great job on this site. Such a wonderful resource.

Here's a little insight to those fodder supplements:
Corn & Rye: both are low in regard to nutrition, but they will make your feed last longer when mixed, corn also serves as a great treat.
Kudzu: It is a good source of protein being in fact a legume, I think it's something like 18% protein by dry weight.
Legumes: This obviously includes plants with peas/pods and is a very good source of protein. They are also rich in iron and vitamin B.
Bahia Grass: Like any other grass serves as a good treat and source of greens.
All have their pros and cons. :)

Thanks for the feedback, our girls pick from around a palmetto flatland most of the day. I'm looking for something that's easy to grow in Florida, that they can pick out of the ground. Almost like a renewable food source for them.

Hi and welcome to BYC

On this link you'll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping birds - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archives

This is a useful link of BYC guides to take a look at announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3 I’d suggest including your location using the guide in that link.

Best wishes

Pork Pie

Love it! Thank you so much
