Our good rooster seems to have a hip problem.
He was avoiding putting pressure on one leg and spent most of the day sitting down.

Checked him out, his foot looks fine and I could bend his knee no problem he didn't squawk or fidget when I was pocking and prodding. Everything looked to be correctly aligned.

I don't want to see him starve to death or worse get picked to death by the other birds, so I may have to put him down. will keep and eye on him for another day or so and see if he improves.

This is a real shame, he's a good rooster. The hens like him, he's no aggressive and he's produced some great looking offspring.

Can anything be done for his leg in this situation?

We've isolated him (in garage in supersized brooder). Put is favorite hen with him.

Doesn't look good.

Still interested in input.

Thanks

Gave him a few days in the garage until he started standing on his own again. He limped a bit for a week or so, now he's back to normal.

Glad we gave him a chance to heal, instead of putting him on the chopping block.
