they have stopped laying eggs everyday.. we are only getting 2 eggs every other day. some of them are featherless around the vent area.. could they be molting or have a disease? they are still eating like horses... and acting normal. we have 6 rhode island reds we raised them from chics.

Have you dusted them? Chickens get lice, mites, ticks and other parasites. The loss of feather around the vent is usually a sign.

Lots of folks dust them with Seven, while other prefer permithrin type products. I prefer the latter. Available in a shake can. Sometimes it is labeled Garden Dust. Don't be concerned, as it works very, very well on the chickens as well as a tomato or cabbage plant. LOL. Do repeat every 8-10 days until you are sure the infestation is gone.

Hate to say it, but the coop, roosts, nesting boxes, etc, are also likely infected.
