Our introduction to keeping chickens, the high's, the lows and pics of our journey.

Hahahaha, I had to laugh at the glove. We had two broodies that were happy for us to pat them and hold them and look under them, not a worry in the world......but we have two that if you so much as look sideways at them while on the nest they go all attack mode. If either of those girls go broody I am taking up the glove option!

Glad you are getting your eggs, you guys will love those Fav's!

Is it me or are things quiet of late?

Things here have been plodding along. All is well, four pullets are laying most days, Luna the BA is still laying most days too, but everyone else is in moult, won't be long until Luna starts to drop too.

Today we got out first pullet double yolker from Summer, was a whopper!

I think everyone's on holiday Ben. I have been getting double Yolkers from one of the coro's. Good for eating but no good for hatching . I've got two of my Roos being shipped out for Victoria on Wednesday .

Wow that's a big egg! "Most" of our snow is finally gone, except where it had been piled high. Still below freezing most nights so this batch of chicks has been indoors so far. Once they're feathered out they'll be moved out to the coop brooder area. I can't believe none of my hens went broody for me in time to raise them.
Seeing how lovely Amy looks, I have a hen that never molted last fall and she looks awful. No mini-molt, she just plain never dropped a feather except the ones she lost to roosters. Poor girl.
