The food was really nice, and it was free which was great too. It was just not large portions, and two courses.

11 eggs so far, but I think that's going to be it!

Our's would have to work double time to get to that, and I think Topi the roo would need to pitch in too...

Sounds like you had a good time, even though there were some obstacles to overcome before you got to chat with him.

The problem with that kind of things organized in fine dining restaurants, is that the organizers tend to try to make it as cheap as possible. A proper fine dining experience is supposed to be 7 or 9 courses, sometimes even 13. And then there's often some amuse bouches between the courses too. But that costs a fair bit.

For many years I worked in an environment of vendor reps with seemingly unlimited expense accounts and have eaten at over a dozen different michelin starred restaurants. The meals were 3 or 4 courses on most occaisions and I left pretty full.

For a special occaision I took Mrs Oz to The Water Grill downtown LA for a tasting menu night. The meal was an orchestrated 9 courses paired with wines. It set me back more than our last scuba vacation.

I guess fine dining is relative.

Now in saying that I have stopped at McD on the way home from a "chicken or fish" wedding reception more than once.

I am glad you got to spend time with Mono. Its cool to meet legends in their field and especially if their field is the same as yours.

A converstation with an ebay supplier selling 5 avail buy it now 12+ eggs

Me: Good morning. Could you supply me with 3 doz eggs laid between this Thurs and Sat then shipped this Saturday

Her: Yes that would be $xx.xx but I would send in 2 shipments to ensure freshness of eggs

(I am thinking wow - I found a supplier that has moderate volume and gets shipping)

Me: The price is a little steep but as you are shipping in 2 shipments its ok as long as the eggs ship Saturday

i pay and stop searching for SLW

then I get an email

Hi. I will send out 21 eggs tomorrow and another 21 eggs next saturday

Me - I cannot do a staggered hatch. (silly me thinking that this saturday meant THIS SATURDAY) please refund me the second hald of the shipment

her: but i aleady printed both labels

Doh! Does 'already printed label' translate to 'already spent your money?'

Things have been quiet here. Chicks growing, eggs laying.

Two days now we have had someone (no idea if they are the same bird or not) not lay in the nest box. One was on the wire mesh over the run green garden and the other was under the roost. Both eggs cracked and both were eaten by the flock!

So far any in the nests have been safe, but it's something I am now keeping an eye on.

99% confident that our beloved silkie is a roo.....always the way.

It's a very pretty Silkie Ben. Almost looks porcelain . At this stage I would say roo, going mostly on the shape of the crest.
