Our introduction to keeping chickens, the high's, the lows and pics of our journey.

Lisa, that is so exciting! Does musical talent flow from your side or your husband's side? There's little more satisfying than seeing our kids launch successfully! Congratulations

Thats great news Lisa, really happy for her.

Hope you guys have frequent flyer points ;)

Last check, the two remaining eggs are going strong. I will do a final candle on them tomorrow, then we have the hard choice of who of the three ladies gets to be a mum. I am leaning towards the SPW 'Amy', as she lays the smallest eggs of the 3, and will probably take the longest to return to laying anyway, so she may as well be working in that time. The Rock is a bit too aggressive (although that could be a good 'mum trait' and Rosie the RIR has already raised some chicks. She did a good job but they were under her wing for a very long time!

They are still in the normal nest boxes, but I might pen them in until the hatch is done, then move the new mum and chicks to the mobile coop and let them get acquainted there.

Dusty has REALLY stepped up his crow, trying to sell him for $5, might go on the free list in the next day or so. Going to be a hard sell since he is not big enough for a table meal.

In other news, we still have my brother here, I have an inspection/interview today with Child Services. They want to come and meet me, see my house as part of me being allowed to chaperone visits between my brother and his kids (he has no custardy and can only have supervised visits) This way I get to see my nephews, and they can see their cousins too. His two kids have been in foster care for a while now.

An invasive process, but necessary for progress.

Still running lol, got to share a run with Alicia on the weekend which is always nice, went up into the hills for a 28k trail run....I'm ever the romantic :D

Thanks Joanne, neither of us. I think it's the house, seriously the ABC shot a movie here in 1978 about Amy Sherwin ' The tasmanian nightingale ' . It's the story of how the Italian opera company discovered a young girl singing in the apple orchards and whisked her away . Her grandad is welsh and he says she gets her singing ability from him, " all Welshmen can sing " he says.

Lol, most people think it's romantic to walk ' hand in hand ' , you and Alecia just do it at a quicker pace.

@scottcaddy Oh yeah, forgot to post this. Snapped another picture of the tree again.

The weather was a bit gloomy, so it looks a bit boring in this one.

Here are the previous ones:

It seems that sometime in the spring it has lost it's top though.

Is it safe to assume the tree is dead? Or is it in hibernation?

Well the interview with Child Serves went really well. They are granting my brother home visits with his kids, providing I am present. A few other rules as well but its a good step forward for him.

About the only thing that raised eye brows was the questions about the medals on my walls "You ran how far???" and "Can you eat these blue eggs on the counter here?"

Tonight will be the last candle, and hopefully by Friday morning we have two happy little chicks tucked under a mum :)
