Our introduction to keeping chickens, the high's, the lows and pics of our journey.

It is the morning, and we have one broken egg, with nothing inside it! (Cruel to word it that way?) Chick has hatched, still wet but peeping away under there. I removed the broken shell and barricaded the nest box door to stop any of the other big loafs getting in there and trying to lay/steal.

Once the chick is fluffed up I will move 'her' and mum to another safe place where she can have some quality time without a jealous broody trying to steal her chick. We don't want anything to happen to this little one.

I tried to get a pic, but it was just a big pile of fluffy butt feathers, so I will try again when she gets moved.

Yay!! Great to hear Ben

The chick is pretty much dry now, so I got the new home sorted with some feed and a chick waterer.

So far, AMy has not tried to go back to the coop, hopefully the peeping keeps her with the chick in the area I want to keep them.

Rosie is still sitting, so is the Rock. Neither are going to be mum's this time around.

I have a pic on my phone, will upload after this post.

So far, so good. The real test will be once Amy leaves the nest, to make sure she goes back to the same place. I will be watching closely.
