All has been well the past few days, a few rubber eggs from our newest layers but that seems to have stopped.
I did happen to see our BV rush into the nearest nest box (which happened to be occupied by a better prepared hen!) and she immediately laid her egg, right on top of the first hens back. It was all over in less than a minute. No egg song, no nest building, no next box shopping, it was like a NASCAR pit stop of egg laying!
The chick is a definite mix, and pretty sure it's a he. No red yet, but a very strong body shape, if it is a pullet it is going to be a very big one!
