Our introduction to keeping chickens, the high's, the lows and pics of our journey.

Thanks Joanne.

I have no idea about the protein really, they all seem to eat the same stuff. I think they are just new to the whole production process, and are just a bit wonky some days. Rosie has given a few and Cleo one. I love it, about once a week we get a big one, perfect for poaching over big crusty toast!

'Bator TV, now showing on all channels. I remember the feeling well, only checked it eleventy-twenty times already this afternoon hahaha

Temps have stabilised, humidity was @ 57% last check, just had their first turn.....copy and paste 18 more days lol

47 eggs went in and I want them all to hatch but DANG! Going to have to move some on fast if they do before we run our of brooder space! We have two to use but won't take them long to out grow those bad boys.

Have to give consideration to a Plan B should this be successful **no chickens were actually counted, only logistically considered**

Roll on that first candle. I have my graphs all set out ready!

Woohoo! Getting the popcorn and will anxiously count off the next 20 :) Alicia won't be able to resist those faverolles once you have some - I didn't expect to like them either but I got hooked. They're quite irresistible. Do your marans eggs say "french marans"on them. ..as in feathered feet???? :)

I did a shuffle last turn and made a little more space, but that big gap it where the turner moves to so I didn't want to take that up incase we hooked it back up. Although, I kind of like getting in there and touching all those warm eggs :)

The eggs had FWM or FW written on them. Looking in her pen the ones I could see have feathered shanks, but she had a couple walking loose that she said were not "French" that had smooth shanks. Just have to wait and see with that. Was really had to see what the grown birds would look like from the parents, it was really muddy so hard to make out details. We got our RIR, LS, BA from there though and they are great lookers so fingers crossed we get the same standard.

Your right! Once she sees those puffy little balls with puffy cheeks, she's going to be hooked. They are born with crazy beards!
Wicked!
