Our introduction to keeping chickens, the high's, the lows and pics of our journey.

your chicks are doing great!

on the bright side, you have a lot of chook dinners in Autumn but my crystal ball says you are over thinking it. I say 11 girls
Thanks mate, they are doing great, weening them off day time heat not. The Franken brooder is really quite good. Fingers crossed your positivity rubs on on my flock. I do tend to over think these things.

Off to check up on how Piglet and yourselves families are doing in the Phils.

Ben I know how you feel. I have 4 light sussex chicks left and I'll go over in the morning, see 2 Roos and 2 pullets. Funny how when I go over to lock them up they morph into 4 Roos.

In my blrw chicks I have a little dark one that runs straight up to me and hops into my hand, guarantee it's a roo. The ones that steal my heart always are. Yesterday it rained all day and when I got home, momma and her 8 chicks were perched up on the verandah, waiting for crazy food lady.
Found a great home for my buff sussex roo ( that's him on my avatar ). He is making the trek to devonport tomorrow .
Some amazing shots there Lisa, should release your own Tassie Calender! That's exactly how I feel too, I look at them, then think 'so many roo's, I can't sell them all' and then I review my pics and check for signs and then have a doubt, wake up the next day and do it all over again hahahaha

I just left to browse elsewhere and what do I find after talking about calenders...our very own is in the 2014 BYC, Jan I presume! Congrats Lisa, well worth it, a fantastic shot!

All the chicks are adorable! Mine all have pretty much all their feathers in now, so they look like mini fluffy chickens! They are eight and a half weeks old... where did the time go?

After waiting so impatiently for eggs, my girls have finally come through for me! So far just this month, they have laid 32 eggs! That blows my mind! I have gotten 6 eggs for the past 2 days!

You my friend are going to need more egg storage! Very nice colour range there, pretty close to what we are aiming for in colour range with the addition of some darks.
I keep not bringing my eggs in... 15-16 a day and no freaken customers! Boy it would be nice if I could can my eggs... Lol
I would love 12 a day with a spread of colour's, that's what we are aiming for.

Hope your little man is feeling better soon too.

I wouldn't have minded 12 a day in the spring.. but its fall now... and most of my buyers have gone back to the south till next growing season...

Yes... Aiden is good. He went to bed about an 30 minutes after we got home with me. He said he couldn't sleep in his own bed, cuz he was getting old. LOL Not kidding. Everything is, "I'm getting to old..." I guess I aught to stop saying that. LOL he didn't like the super glue much, but he said it was quicker than the stitches. Guess it stung.
