Hello everyone,

I hate to come on here thinking of the grave future but we started off with 6 hens and after 10 years of love and loss were down to two. Im not trying to wish death on either but I know one day theres only going to be one left.

It would hurt my family watching her get depressed and die. We cant get anymore hens we need time to heal from all the loss. We dont know what to do when the time comes of just having one.

Right now we have two old ladies, Salt and Kaneki, and they are glued to each other! Theyre happy and cheerful still having eggs every once in awhile.

Any advice on what to do when that time comes or is it just going to end up being sad. Im in Okinawa Japan very very far away from Florida so I need something to tell my parents to prepare.

I was thinking stuffed animals? My dog is already outside with them everyday protecting them will he be enough?? Or maybe we need to get chicken diapers??

I'd recommend getting three or four chicks, raise them up, and have them integrated with these hens. One hen, no matter who else is there, does need other chickens in her life, and that's maybe the best way to have it happen. And these new birds will also be good to know.
