Our Legbar Chick does not have a Parson’s nose

Hi,

One of our 5 week old Legbar Chicks does not have a Parson’s nose.

I thought the wings were too big thats why it pushed the tail down. After examining the chick I noticed it doesn't have a Parson’s nose. The poop sticks to the feather. Will it develop at a later stage?

I have been cleaning its back. Gave it a trim to reduce any poop staying attached.

Lift the butt feather up and see if there are any pin feathers poking out of the pygostlye. She may be lagging in tail feather growth. If the pin feathers are not obvious, then this chick may grow up to be tailless, a serious genetic flaw in Legbars who normally have proud vertical flags for tails.

There is some English Aurcana blood mixed into the Legbars from outcrosses done over the decades so while rare some do come out rumpless. It is a throwback from avatism.
