Talked to my son today. He said my two big girls are doing well. I'm glad they're safe. We won't be home until Saturday.

Damn dogs I swear!!
I don’t know if you were around when a dog jumped my fence and killed 13 of my gals It still makes me sick!! Three of my oldest gals from my first ever batch of chickens were injured so badly but I brought them inside and tended their wounds three times a days and they got better and are still living a happy life they are 7 years old now… they were 5 and a half when it happened!

Thank you! It makes me really sad too and angry at myself for not making sure they were secure before we left and angry with the owners of the dogs. I've lost most of my chickens to dogs over the years. So glad 2 of my girls made it.

Dogs packing around can be scary. My son is keeping a close eye out, especially for the one that growled at him. Derek's a big man, so that dog has to be pretty aggressive. When the dogs cornered and killed one of our cats up on our deck, Dale tried to corner them, but one growled at him too, so he let it go by, but he caught another one of them. I'm thinking it might be the same dog and it needs to be put down.

I'm so sorry that happened and sorry I wasn't here to give you some comfort. I'm glad you were able to save 3 of them.

He should wait for them to come back and shoot all of them!!!!!! They have no business being on your property! We didn’t personally kill the dog here but we made sure it was put down! I wish we would’ve done it ourselves! If there is ever a next time for sure!

That's pretty much the plan. We hate to do it, but aggressive dogs are scary. For my livestock, but especially our grandbaby's!

We just got back home and I headed straight out to see my girls. They both look really good. Penney laid two eggs & Maybelline laid one. This was since they were attacked. I could hardly believe it. Life goes on.
When I went into the pen all my girls came running. Hoping for a tasty treat, I'm sure it wasn't just to see me, I know how this works. ..lol I picked them all some fresh currants, new to the littles, but my big girls knew what they were.
Our grandsons dump truck was in the pen. My son said he's been taking both he and Charlie(Charlotte) out there to play. Declan plays with his truck and Charlie just follows the chickens around the pen.
The chickens are contained and so are the kids... that's a win win...

Everyone was happy until I gave the littles their mash. Of course the big girls were right there, pecking anyone on the head who dared to encroach upon THEIR treat....
