Our new coop for the little ones

[Austrian Chickens]

We needed a coop for the chicks because we don't wanted to put them together with the adult chickens. So we decided to modify a rabbit coop. The chicks love it. We can give them an additonal run so have no worries the have enough space.

Put that right in the big birds run, then integration has already started.
In a week or two you can prop open the door,
or lift it onto blocks for chick only egress like this:

I already have my 3 day olds in the coop with the big girls (separated by HC) and they checked them out the first day but pay no attention now. Hoping they stay this way once we allow more access.

It works a treat...if you can get power to heat them while they still need it.
