it is a bit small for 5 Bill. Is more appropriate for 3-4 birds but you'll probably be alright. Ideally you would be wanting something like a 5X10 pen and perhaps a 5X5 coop for 5 Standards according to most people here... but... they probably will be just fine in there. I have seem far more in far less!
I guess I'll just have to query the inhabitants and see how comfortable they are. This is my first experience with keeping chickens. As a kid growing up with them I paid no attention at all. I just knew that my bottom would get busted if'n I messed with them at all, so I kept my distance and we ignored each other. Imagine a Lil' red headed boy running amok with his Daisy Red Rider. Traditionaly we had chicken for supper every Monday. One day I was collecting bugs for a school bug collection project and I caught this amazing Monarch butterfly. After removing him from my killin' jar I placed a pin thru him and posed his wings, then I stuck that pin in the side of the barn to let him set up and dry. We had chicken that Sunday, because one of my Aunt's found a chicken acting funny and discovered my pin in his crop after cleaning him. She swore not to tell on me so I never recieved a lickin for it. The dinner table was awful quiet that evening. It messed up my Uncle's weekly supper schedule.
