Our oldest baby squatted!!

Mine don't know the difference since they've never seen a rooster. They're satisfied with me stepping in.
 
I don't mean to be TMI...but mine like it when I grab the base of their tail feathers and give them a firm wiggle for about 10 seconds. Then a pat or two on the back. The do the fluffy fluff thing and they are satisfied. Wham, bam, thank you ma'am. Probably quicker than a rooster and I'm not as rough and pluck any feathers off their backs. LOL.
 
I've got jealous hens that will run to me and peck my hand when I'm "scratchin" another squatters back! Makes me feel as though I've cheated on the others! I feel so terrible!!! Haha
 
I have only had hens for about a year and half but have wondered why they did that. Now I will have to start "rewarding" them. Only my 2 older laying hens do it right now, but I will look for in with the young pullets.
