Awesome coops! For all of you

I love that you are recycling. It's amazing. I have built the Pollos de Zahboo with recycled materials, but they were just leftovers from other projects.

We picked up 6 pallets today that are 6' x 4'. They are made of 2x6's. Should make a very sturdy bantam coop...my next project.

I have a question about Pallet constructed coops -

How the HECK do you get them apart?! I picked up some free pallets and the nails are embedded in the wood surface and it's going to take FOR EV ER to get these 5 pallets broken down into usable wood!

I thought this would be easy but....

Suggestions appreciated!!

a good sawzall works wonders on cutting the nails...........

We don't take our pallets apart. I use them just as they are. Trying to take them apart causes to many headaches. They are glued and nailed with nails that have glue on them. The pallets are used whole and I add to them, either with wood or wire. They stay sturdy and square most of the time, so they are easy to build with.

Mine.... I just used a crowbar. Pulling the heads of the nails through the wood worked pretty good. I didn't care, it gives it character.
