Our run is sand, do I need grit?

My 8 week old chicks are now outside. I finished the run with slate stones (added predator protection) and playground sand. Will they be fine as far as grit is concerned?

I would still put a container of grit in the coop, better safe than sorry.

You'll get all kinds of answers here so you'll end up having to use your own judgement. We also covered our run with sand. The hens eat it. It is their grit!

OMG! Do you have Astroturf in your nesting boxes??? That is sooooo KEWL!!! I am totally going to steal that idea! BTW I saw you raking the coop on the cam!!

I have mason sand in my aviary and thats all they have needed no issues as to yet knock on wood lol
Been there over a year and never a problem
