Sorry for the poor quality--I only have a camera phone.

We got the rainbow layer and brown layer mix from McMurray and can't figure out what breeds and genders they are. Could anyone help? My first time with chickens, so no experience here. Here are three that would stand still for a second. They sent 11 more than ordered during the deep freeze in January, so probably alot will be roosters, I am guessing. Thanks in advance!

What are sex link chickens? I couldn't find that breed on the McMurray website. Maybe they are just starting to offer them? #1, 5 and 8 are so sweet--glad that if I got roosters, they are nice ones so far! Thanks so much for answering so quickly!

They call them Red Stars. They are bred so the girls are one color when born and the boys another. Hence the "sex link". They are pretty much 100% sexable.

Oh, ok, so will they turn red when they are older? The white and brown ones, I mean?

No, they're the roosters. They'll stay mostly white with red splotches like that. The girls are mostly red with just a few white splotches.

Oh, ok, that makes sense! Thanks so much! Don't know what to do with all these roosters who love to sit on my lap though! I have a feeling I may not get much sleep in the future!
