I am looking for advice on winter care in alaska for chickens and for a coop builder in the Chugiak area. I would like to find someone in my area that builds custom coops with a covered attached run. Our current coop is very small and the run is uncovered and muddy even after adding gravel and straw. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am attached to this girls already and want to take good care of them.

Hi there from Nanaimo, BC

We have very wet weather down here with all the rain, we'll be building for our girls (and guy) a covered section of the run and leaving the other half open. Were not so familiar with the type of winters, / weather you have up there though so hopefully that alaska thread will help!

good luck in your chicken adventures, have fun!
