Outcast Chicken

Not unusual for a young cockerel to keep others away from food,
is unusual for them not to try to mate(a good thing actually).
Is there an older male in the flock too?
If anything I would separate the young cockerel.

Nope, he is the only rooster, and he is loving it, lol. He doesn't mate very often yet, but again, 6 months old. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I've only had chickens for 2 years, and there is still so much to learn from these beautiful creatures!

As long as the pullet is going to roost with a full crop,
and is not being pinned down and beaten unmercilessly or bloodied,
I'd just let it play out.
Hopefully you have enough space for the subordinates to get out of the way of the dominants

Their coop is 12 x 20 section of our 4 stall horse barn (the previous owners of this property had horses and dogs only) and they can go in and out freely. 4 nesting boxes in there, and the yard they are in is 0.8 acres. I have 18 chickens. They all have plenty of space right now, I was just hoping this would level out at some point. I was hoping I wasn't waiting something out if it was never going to improve, lol. Thank you so much!
