MY brooder is out in the coop. I have 2 heatlamps in there and its at a steady temp of 80.. will this be too cold? What could i do to mak it warmer besides moving the lights?

I don't know how big your brooder is but in mine I put a plastic dog house and put a smaller watt bulb 125 in the lamp and hung it on the side of the box, it doesn't close completely tight but the chicks seem to like it, and on really warm day if I unplug the lamp it gives them a cooler shady place to get..

Mine is a lot bigger, but of course I went from 6 to 40 chicks

Go to the home depot and get you a lower water heater thermostat and it will keep it what ever temp u like

and they are only 8 bucks or so.

The chicks will tell you if they're comfortable or not. Watch the way they behave. It's your surest way to know.

I stopped trying to use a thermometer in the brooder. They don't accurately measure radiant heat. Your chicks will tell you what you need to know.
