Outdoor cat house - Suggestions needed

I was thinking of building a DIY cat house for when Archie moves completely outside so that he can stay dry and warm during cold season. We also have a catio that I could also upgrade into a large house for him but I'm currently looking for suggestions on the best things to use for building a cat house.

I do follow a lot of people on Tik Tok who have heated cat houses for the strays but those are just prebuilt dog houses and I want to stay away from prebuilt.

Suggestions for best items to use for building a cat house?

Where do you plan on locating it? Cats adore high spots. The higher, the better, like a tree house. Cats love nothing more than to look down on all other critters, including humans. And yes, heat. Cats are heat seeking missiles.

Hello! I used a smaller sized plastic storage bin that you can get from dollar general for cheaper. I drilled a small hole big enough for her to fit through in the bottom corner. I added put a blanket and towel inside to stay warm. I then moved it to the front porch. I put 3 cinder blocks under it to be elevated. Then I faced it toward the wall away from the north wind. I made this for my outdoor cat, Rainbow!
