I enjoy photographing tiny flowers. When you look at the photographs on a screen, you see things about the flowers you would not have noticed while looking at the real flowers first hand.

Either those caterpillars know how to chew to create beauty, or that ones got OCD!
Sorry, missed this! I'm in zone 6a (Indiana). I try to get watermelon seeds in the ground as soon as it warms up and then they trellis above the ground so I get at least 3-6 large melons before it's too cold for them to finish ripening. Because they are on a trellis, they get a lot of sun and seem to grow more quickly. I also have a lot of flowers around them so they get pollinated early.Oh my gosh, where do you live that you can grow watermelon THAT huge? We can only do the little round ones up here in WI.
And here I was being proud of the Tuscany melon plants growing from seeds from 2014 I found in a box I'd packed away.It was a seed library seed, and the packet said it was ‘2000 Year Old Squash’ (a little digging brought up the name ‘Gete Okosomin’) donated by the local indigenous museum.
