I live in central texas and it can get pretty hot, I want to keep the chicks inside for about a week then take them outside. I have a good size rabbit hutch they can stay in till we build something. I am not sure with the heat how to make my box, I know it needs a roof and they need to be enclosed to protect them. I am thinking of a cardboard built but what kind of rood would I use? Trying to keep it cheap, I have a barn that has a concrete floor with an overhang, not very drafty in there. Do I still need a heat lamp? Or would I need a fan? Also I will be getting a couple older birds (3 months), they will share a pen, but dont have to, I have an isolation coop. what would you suggest?
