I get the sand tubes from Lowes and spread it in my run. Probably not the most economical way to get construction sand, but it works for me right now. The texture is perfect. It packs enough to keep it where it is, allows the girls to scratch, easy to rake and sift the poop out. I tried play sand first and it was bad, too soft, stuck to everything, and couldn't clean it easily.
