Hey there everyone ! So we ordered hatching eggs out of New York and live in Las Vegas. Our temps right now are reaching 108. We got them yest from the post ( 3 days to receive) and I brought them inside to sit for 24hrs to settle their air cells….. lastnight I decided to take them outside and let them sit in warmer temps 85* and they are still out there pointy face down it is now 99* and I am getting the incubator ready to bring them inside. The issue I have is during shipping when I received them and candled them a few looked like they had already started to develop…. That’s why I decided to place them outside….. also some people on threads said placing them in the incubator pointy side down could help their air cells ? should I not use the egg turner? For 3 days? What should I do now? Also I have hatched eggs before in vegas and they were done with a humidity hatch. I am wondering if a dry hatch would be better because of where we live ? Please I need help on what to do for the best hatch rates for these silkys we have 22. Does starting the incubating process pointy side down really help with shipped eggs no turning?

If the eggs had started developing and then stopped developing the embryos will have died. If the temps were kept stable maybe they will just have continued incubating. I have had success with incubating pointy end down and not turning at the start. Turning is most important between day 3 and 7. The issue is if these eggs are already incubating you don’t know what day they’re on?
Maybe posting pictures of the eggs at candling would help

Most of them looked ok just air cells not stable. Two of them looked to had started developing out of the 22. But the air cells wasn’t totally stable so they have been sitting today would be day 2 but possible day 3 for those other two that looked to be more full when I candled when we received them. I had brought them inside pointy face down for a few hours and when it cooled down outside I brought them outside to settle over night outside. The next day I brought them inside when it reached 99 outside and place them in the incubator. they are still there pointy down and I have not touched them. Should I not touch them another day and tomorrow than candle and than I could show u a pics? Or maybe I’ll do it today and place the ones that have hopefully attached air cells in the other turner incubator …

Because of the very hot weather we have in our area, I have stopped resting shipped eggs and just put them right into the incubator (based on advice from fellow chickeners on the forum as well). The last batch I incubated straight out of the shipping box actually turned out really well. I always immediately candle all the eggs to check the air cells. If they're defunct, I put them fat side up in a cut down egg carton to incubate. If they have semi-stable air cells or saddle cells, I incubate them on the side like normal (with turning).

It also depends on your incubator. Mine has a slow sort of turner we bought with it that requires the eggs to be on their sides for turning. Some incubators have you incubate them upright with turning.

What kind do you have?

The 360 nurture and we had the worst hatch we ever have…… we are thankful for the 2 chicks we did hatch out but out of 22 it was so sadd….. we decided to let our broody hen hatch out 4 but the problem is we have her the other hatched ones and she as of today 5 days after gave up on her eggs! So now I just brought them inside to incubate them they are roughly and I am just going off of what the eggs look like during candle…. I think they are 13-15 days along. So I set it on 14. They all look great tho just not sure how we are going to integrate them now!
