Over build, over budget, build

Dumb question, but how do you join the pieces of hardware cloth to each other? Or do you just overlap enough that joining isn't required?
Not dumb at all. In an ideal world you would have a structure that doesn’t require seams because you had enough wood support elements to screw it in to. But I think mostly we end up with seams.
I think hog rings are the standard approach and if you think hardware cloth is difficult to deal with, you haven’t seen anything until you meet the humble hog ring.
The problem with the hog ring approach is that the wire flexes and bulges and that creates openings. Mostly that hasn’t been an issue for me but at the junction with the anti-predator apron it opened up enough to let in mice and rats. I have solved this by retroactively sewing the two pieces together with vinyl coated electrical wire. It was a major pain to do after we were finished because it meant working on my belly on the ground. The chickens thought I was dust bathing and joined me - if you have never shared a dust bath with a chicken I can tell you that extra eyelid they have is there for a good reason!
I really wish I had thought of the sewing approach from the get-go.
Anyway, now I am fully rodent proof and leave food out in the run with no issue.

I have a 2x4 every 2 feet so one would start a peice the middle one was only for over all suport of both the coop and the wire. Then the 3rd 2x4 would give an ending spot for the first peice and a starting spot for the next one.
First picture is of how they meet on the middle post
Second picture is front corner by the human.
Last picture is showing why I am not a fan of the 4 foot wide cloth, it's just to big to man handle and get 100%. I'm sure some people can or if you have multiple people building with you but for me it was a hassle.

I wanted to include most of my mess ups and little errors to help show some mistakes others may run in to. I have some pictures and am going to make like a blooper real once the coop is done.

Correct labeling is one of my problems, more than once I have cut a bored thinking it was the right one but it was not....luckily I have had very little waist at least up until the run walls I have 14 2x4's that are like 2 foot long but I think I will turn them in to a planter for my dragon fruit plant.

I also realized while taking the pic of my mess up I need to put a screw in the bottom of where I cut it I drilled the hole bit did not add one.

Wonderful. That is exactly what I meant about avoiding seams. Your first two pictures are ‘perfect world’ from my perspective!
In your spare lengths if 2x4 one idea is to build a jungle gym for your ladies. Mine love jumping around on stuff. Mostly I give them tree stumps but I am sure scrap 2x4 would work just as well.

Looks like I need to make that new roosting bar and ramp sooner than I thought. This is there roost of choice. The only thing I did today is put the hardware cloth on the bottom of the coop and door. But that was the big thing holding them up from comming out side. They got some out side time today for a little while, well all but luna who was stubborn but she will come around.

I'll work on the coop door tomorrow and the roof will have to wait a few days as I will have to go get the plywood and wood for the roof.

I cant remember if I showed the latch for the Dutch door but this is it ill have to get more locks once I take off the chicken door in the coop.

Have not done much the last sew days been working and doing other things the girls have been enjoying the run. Along with all the new treats in the yard. Im waiting on the predator apron fence. As well as a truck to get the plywood for the roof.

I have been wanting to get a small truck but am enjoying being car payment free after paying my jeep of early last year lol. Though the Ford Maverick looks good though I dont like Ford.....dam that's way off topic.

I do have a question that I don't think matters. I'm doing 2 gravity feeders should I go with holes drilled in to the bottom pipe or a longer trough style opening. There is a pic of both styles just so you guys can see what im talking about.

Have been busy being pulled in like 12 different directions finally got the auto feeder and water done at least for now. I'll redo the wood supports and paint them when it's cooler and I have more time. Still have a long list of to-do's but some things are more important than others. The girls are loving it outside the roof is going to be put on the back burner for a while I have some 2x3" fencing on top now and will also tack down some plywood for now. More than likely won't to any big updates for a month or so.
