Over EZ Nipple Waterer getting gross in days!

APOLOGIES TO EVERYBODY! It rained and was cold before, then I have been sick for the last several days. My husband had to go out and clean the waterer so I didn't get a worse cough. He didn't take pics, but I can this coming weekend to show fresh, clean water without additives that's been in there for a while. I'm already betting it stays much fresher, MUCH longer! Stay tuned...

Good to hear.

I abandoned any "easy" ways to water chickens years ago. It seems like the nipples were always failing, or similar to your case, something was always happening to the stagnant water.

I instead trenched a pipe all the way to the coop and hooked up a spigot out there so I didn't have to drag buckets each day.

We're brand new to all this, so we're still learning and I bought it before they were even out of the brooder. But I'm hoping it stays fresher, longer without the ACV now. Then we'll address it, if it goes bad, fast. I might need to see your setup!

I hope it works for 😀 I still dread the water supply in the middle of the summer, always stressed out about it because of how important it is.

I know. Especially here, in North Central Texas. But with the weird weather being caused by the junk in the atmosphere because of the volcano eruption, we have been 15° below average this year for the season. So I don't know if I'll know how the waterer handles 100°, non-stop summer temps, like last year. This experiment may have to go on to next year.

Oh shoot. Yes, im sure we are pansies compared to you with heat. we are in the mountains in Central Oregon. It might hit 100 a few times a year, but high 80's for us is a scorcher. Now, the winter is a different story. Our Dec - Feb average temp is around 20 degrees with lows in the -30's. Very dry though, no humidity whatsoever.

We lived in ND for 9 years. I'm a Texan, born and raised, so I'd take 100°+ over 6' snow drifts and icy, 40+ mph winds EVERY time! 😁

We have the same waterer and haven’t had that issue. I will be curious to see if it stops now, just so I know not to add ACV in the future.

Alright, alright, alright...the water has stayed super clean for two weeks without adding anything to it! YAY!
