Over-long Beak: Should I Trim?

One of my bantams, who eats just layer pellets, has a very long beak that hooks over almost half an inch. She does not appear to have any more trouble than the other birds and is not under weight, but it makes me worried. Should I trim it or file it or just leave it be? I can post a picture tomorrow if that helps. Thanks!
 
You can easily trim the hook with a pair of dog nail clippers. Be careful to avoid the quick and trim only the hard portion.
 
Yes, you can trim the beak. Be careful not to cut the "quick." You can see the 'quick' by adjusting a light to see through it. Patience is key. Trim a little at a time.
