I have about 20 of the Texas A&M white quail that have just started laying over the past few weeks. One of my hens only lays about every 4 day and when she does the egg is huge it is at least one and a half to two times the size of the other eggs. Is this normal for young hens.

Welcome to BYC and the quail forums!

Yes, it is normal for new layers to lay very large, very small or even funky shaped eggs at first. They are still maturing and getting their egg machines in gear just yet. They will settle out over time.

Make sure to offer plenty of crushed oyster shell on the side for good egg shell strength and health of the layers.

Great to have you aboard the quail train! :)
