That's not really how it works....especially in summer.they lay 1 to 2 a week depending on the extra light.
They were bought in early April as 8 week olds. The lights are small lanterns that use double a's I turn them on at 530 PM and off at 830pm
Huh okay. I had read before that is was 4 days to make an egg for chickens. I was miss informedI believe this is where your answer lies... you have young birds that are all just beginning to lay for the first time. When pullets start to lay at the time of year when days are getting shorter, this can mess with their hormones. Laying is not entirely regular at first. Also, with any age bird, when days are short, egg laying is not entirely regular either. Personally I do not suspect anything is "wrong" with your chickens. I suspect that as days continue to get longer you will continue to see more eggs on a regular basis. Eggs take approximately 26 hours to form within a chicken from start to finish, so in theory you could have a new egg from every chicken every 26 hours during peak production age/season. This is sort of your max, 6-7 eggs a week per chicken, often it is a bit less, depending on the bird, age, breed, time of year, etc.
Here is a bit of reading:
