I was getting 15 duck eggs a day until 3 days ago when they slowed down to 5-6 a day. My husband had been collecting the eggs for me. I ask him if he was checking the nest good and he swore he was. When I went out to let them all out of their house I deceided to gather the eggs myself. There was only 6 laying around on the floor all were runner eggs and very dirty. I decided to check behind the bales of straw that I had made them a nest in and saw something white showing. I had found another egg but when I started scratching the straw out I found another and another and another. I kept digging and ended up with19 eggs in the nest. They had scratched all the straw out down to the dirt and would lay their egg and cover it back up. They refuse to lay on the clean straw or in nest boxes. I'm getting all these eggs and can't give them away so I'll just boil them and feed them back to them.

yeah, ducks are like that.

That is hilarious! I've got one that keeps trying to make a nest in different places in the yard. I think she's getting irritated that I keep taking her egg every morning. Poor thing! I see her go back to check on her egg later, and it's not there. She's probably thinking, "Darnit! Not again!" Yours probably thought they were really pulling the duck down over your eyes! Ducks are smarter than people give them credit for.

This morning my husband found some hidden in a different place that I had overlooked. My husband took 10 dozen to a vegetable stand this morning to give to the man and he said he would sell them for him and try to get some regular customers for the eggs. So maybe we can sell some like that and split the money with him. Something is better than nothing. I still have 4 1/2 dozen in the fridge.

I'm not getting near as many eggs as you, but I started making pound cakes with them. Of course, how many pound cakes can I eat

Actually, I took most of them to work "to share the calories". Also been scrambling some to feed the dogs in the evenings.

In the spring I may try taking 1/2 dozen packs to the local market to see if I can sell some.

Good luck with yours!
