The advice you were given was NOT completely wrong. There are many different schools of thought and lots of different recommendations out there.
Ducks have been domesticated for hundreds of years and you will find hundreds of different duck diets out there.
The easiest thing to do is put out maintainer feed for both and put out oyster shell for her.
Please don't stress too much. Foraging ducks tend to eat what their body needs - bugs, greens, etc. And you, of course, provide dry food, fruits and veggies etc.
Wild ducks somehow manage to live off of what nature provides and all is well.
They'll be fine.
