x2 Once you faint, you won't feel a thing!

Better to faint and recover than to die a painful death. REALLY. Call the doctor, and GO GET THE SHOT.

though I may agree that some vaccines may not be that good for you, I won't get a flu shot, but, I would never tell someone not to get something, cause I'm not qualified to do so.. I know that tetanus is something super nasty you don't want to mess with. Did you google it?

You really should consult your Dr in this case and not take advise on here to avoid it. Whether you like shots or not... some times we have to put on our big girl panties and do what we should to take care of ourselves!

What did your EMT friend has to say? If you haven't gotten a hold of her, what are you waiting for?

If you are healing fine, no problems but what happened if you did it again? Surely you would play Russian Roulette with your life. I sure wouldn't!

If you are a minor, and have insurance, then go to the doctor to get it checked out. OR give his office a call and see what the next step would be.

Tetanus isn't something to mess with. Even a bad cut may mean needing antibiotic shots, unless you want to deal with the joy of a systemic infection. Better to get in, get the one tetanus shot, get some pill antibiotics, than to let it go and end up on IV antibiotics. Let me tell you, IV antibiotics are NOT FUN - they are nasty and mess with your system (and some of them give you a horrible taste in your mouth though they are IV).

Ounce of prevention and all that.

Doesn't even need to be a nasty cut. DH ended up on IV antibiotics (lucky me got to give them) from a pyracantha thorn. He was out of work for over a week and in MISERABLE pain for much of it. I cut my foot on cage wire and it became infected, despite immediate cleaning with antibiotic soap--luckily I did not need IV antibiotics--just pills--and I DID get my tetanus shot.

Heck, I get a staph infection (cellulitis) if I get stung by a bee or wasp (not an allergic reaction, just another joy of my wonky immune system). I have to go on a round of antibiotics every single time.
