Just wondering if the owl or the crows worked. I just had one of my girls killed by a hawk and I do not want a dog. I am looking at the crow decoys but before I buy I would like to know if you had any success?

Crows hate hawks because hawks prey on crows and crows often live and travel in flocks that helps crows mob hawks. As long as the crows can remain level with or above the hawk the advantage is with the crows, however once the crows are below the hawk the advantage is with the hawk.Just wondering if the owl or the crows worked. My rooster did nothing yesterday to help my hen who was pinned under an owl! He did sound the alarm but that's it. I'M sure he know he could also be lunch. It has been my personal experience that a hawk will just as soon eat a rooster as a hen.
Yeah, I was told to put it out of sight of the chickens for that very reason. MY problem was, there was no place I could have put it, where the chickens couldn't see it. Thanks for the feedback. PLAN BI bought one of those fake owls at a garage sale. The problem I had was the chickens were scared to death. They wouldn't come out of their house. I moved it around the yard, they were ok until one of them spotted it and full set panic set in. Chickens running, flying, squawking, hiding, what a sight.
The owl now resides by hanging by his neck from one of the garage rafters.![]()
