Owl? The guineas are in an enclosed run 9/16!

Ok I hung Christmas (red twinkling ones) outside. (in the rain mind you) Dug through my husbands military gear I remember palying with a strobe light in there a few months back and what would you know. There it was! I put in new batteries and turned it on and already have a headache from looking at the thing. So I will put it out there as well tonight. I am really looking like white trash over here now. Christmas lights in Sept. hung all over the place in no order, cds hanging from the trees, and now a military grade strobe WOW. I will be the talk of the road for sure now. Wish me luck I honestly have not slept in a few days now. This is eating me alive.

I will say again no matter what you put up eventually the owl will get used to it and realize it's no harmful. At best you are only buying yourself a week before they start dying again. The only way to keep them alive is to get the guineas out of the trees and keep them from going back. All other roads eventually lead to dead guineas.

I sympathize with you. I lost one to an owl Thursday night. I found lots of feathers on the ground and lots of downy feathers on top of the coop. Half of mine roost in a tree and the other half use the coop.

Today I celebrate I was able to catch all guineas while in the coop and shut the door. EVERY LAST ONE of them!

Tonight I just want to sleep and relax, I have not had a good nights sleep since the first attack! I will come up with a plan in the next couple of day. But they are off the menu for now!

Leave a light on in the coop and a radio. The owl will eventually move on. We did that last winter the owl moved to a new spot.

Tonight I am just taking the night off and watching the VMA's. Like I said I have not slept well in 9 days or so. I downloaded some territorial owl sounds and can also play them. But I plan on keeping them up as long as I can. I may try attaching a run to the coop, and at least start letting them get used to sleeping in the coop. Gotta go Chelsea Handler is hosting and she cracks me up. I need a good laugh after all the stress.

The guineas will have a run today if the weather allows. I just need to make a door and cover the roof, but it is raining right now. Just wanted you all to know. I hate it when post are left with unanswered questions, so I am updating the situtation. I am sure brought my property value WAY down with this run though. Between the disc hanging from the trees, the Christmas lights on the coop, and now some emergeny run. My husband is going to kill me. I will work on the aesthic value later but now I needed a safer place for them, which is what I will have.
Now go away Owl! My guineas are off the menu!

The only 100% success we have had with owls was to take the food source away. Like others have said the owl will be back if the meal is easy enough to get.
