Oxine, anyone?

i've been using 3-1/2 TBLSP / QT. or 50ml/cc per liter to fog my hen for respiratory problem I've been dealing with for almost 1 yr. no one else has it so I think it's fungal. I've tried antibiotics over the course of the year. Other than that, she's fine, laying, eating, tail up.

I am using the oxine also to clean my incubators.and my coops but i just have to say im a little concerned when people are using it in humidifers in there home and places in their house Making houses close to as sterile as an operating room .
The reason Im concerned is we stay healthy by our bodies taking in germs through breathing or eating or on our skin tiny bits of bacteria which our bodies then send out white blood cells to fight off.
Then we are more immune to those germs as our bodies know what to do to kill that germ.
If we never are exposed and everything is disinfected around us so well we are at risk for a huge health problem if outside our home we or more likely our children ,since we most of us didnt grow up in such sterile conditions ourselves , come in contact with these germs..To build our army of germ fighters inside we need them to spar with a few germs.Know who they are how to kill them.
Example...American Indians died in droves from chickepox..when pilgrams came to America. We for the most part get ill and its gone because for centuries we have had minor exposure or immunity from our parents exposure. They had never had it in America at all until whites came. Thus death as their bodys had no immunity at all.
Some doctors today are exponents of exposing children to dirt and germs including rodent dung!!

Childrens allergies are going up in American some docs feel because of no exposer To germs.. many pediatricians feel because Americans are wanting an operating room sterile clean enviroment to raise their children in.
Also if as you say it is stopping chicken lung infections. By breathing the oxine fog .. i wonder then how good it is for humans to breath as we do have GOOD GERMS in and on our bodies also to balance the flora fauna of our systems.Im sure it is killing both good and bad....To kill some off may leave us suseptible to other things.
To clean poopy coop or slimy waterers seems fine but i wonder about the rest.
Just some food for thought.

I ordered some Oxine AH from Amazon the other day. What I received does not say AH. Is this a different product?

400
I just got mine as well. mine don't say AH either. I also thought I read somewhere in here to fog your chickens with it but my bottle says it is an inhalation hazard.

I haven't read the entire thread, so please don't vote me off the island. BUT, I ordered Oxine AH and received Oxine, no AH added. I contacted Bio-cide and asked them to explain or send me a replacement since what I read that what Oxine will do is different from Oxine AH. They told me to keep the product and refunded my money! WHAT???? So now I'm afraid to even use it!

before you get rid of it, go online and read the info about it. also, you can use it for inhalation as long as you are NOT adding the citric acid crystals. the crystals can not be used around any living tissues, including you-must wear a approved respirator. Without the citric acid additives it's safe to use and added by the drops to chickens waterer or fogging. http://www.shagbarkbantams.com/oxine.htm , http://www.bio-cide.com/?s=oxine+AH. I found on the website a change, there is no longer a oxine AH verses a Oxine. It's Oxine( AH) and ProOxine- I went line by line and the only difference I can find is the a .5 high PH, and concentration level in the Prooxine, quote" highly efficient at 2.5 times the concentration of oxine"( no mention of a AH). The levels of concentration just make it more economical for professional use. I believe the name change was to keep us straight with the whole Oxine ah or Oxine. In another words-looks like a label change and oxine and oxine ah are the same now, no changes in what pathogens it is effective against. Please let me know if you find something different on the website. I printed the PDF's for both products.

Thanks for the reply. I called the manufacturer and he basically told me what you said. It has to do with all the federal labeling laws. He assured me Oxine is the same as Oxine (AH)
